Submit your research, clinical vignettes, and educational innovations to the SGIM Annual Meeting. All submissions require registration through ScholarOne, completion of conflict of interest disclosures, and payment of submission fees. Review the policies below before beginning your submission.
Eligibility & Publication Policy
- Content cannot be presented if it has been published or accepted for publication (in article or abstract form) before the submission deadline
- Papers under review but not yet accepted are eligible, even if they appear in press before the meeting
- The same abstract cannot be submitted multiple times to the Annual Meeting (different years or multiple submissions in the same year)
- You may submit to both Regional and Annual Meetings, or submit separate abstracts analyzing different aspects of the same dataset
- SGIM membership is not required for authors or presenters
Submission Limitations
- No late-breaking submissions accepted
- No encore submissions accepted
- No limit on submissions per author
- Maximum 10 co-authors per submission
Before You Begin
Co-authors/speakers must:
- Create or update ScholarOne profile/account
- Complete and submit COI Disclosure
Preparation tips:
- Allow 30-45 minutes for submission
- Prepare text in separate program (e.g., Microsoft Word) before logging in
- Avoid special characters (bullets, tabs, mathematical symbols) as they may not transfer properly

Use the search function when adding co-authors to ensure accurate information.

- All meeting correspondence will be sent to your email from annualmeeting@sgim.org
- Check your spam/junk folder and whitelist this address to ensure delivery
- You can also view all messages in your ScholarOne account under the Messages section
Registration Requirements
All attendees must register and pay registration fees set by the SGIM Council, regardless of whether they are presenting. One-day registration is not available.
Important: If you invite colleagues to speak in updates or workshops, make clear that your invitation does not include complimentary registration.
Submission Fees
- $85 per submission (excluding Interest Groups)
- Payment by credit card required
- Non-refundable
- Submissions will not be reviewed without payment
- This fee is separate from meeting registration
Requirements
- ALL authors and co-authors MUST COMPLETE Financial Disclosure in ScholarOne before submission
- Presenting faculty or co-authors with incomplete disclosures may impact the acceptance of an abstract, and authors may be removed from the abstract and agenda
- Presenting authors are REQUIRED to identify all author disclosures on a slide at the beginning of their presentation. A sample template will be provided to all presenting authors.
How to Complete COI Disclosure
- Login to ScholarOne at: https://sgim26.abstractcentral.com/
- Click your name in the top right navigation
- Select "Disclosures" from dropdown menu
- Read the policy and complete the form
- Enter your first and last name as signature and submit
Authors with Disclosures
SGIM may contact you for additional information to reconcile disclosures with presentation content. You may be asked to provide presentation slides in advance for review.
Checking Co-Author Disclosure Status
- Login to ScholarOne
- Click "Submissions" tab
- Select "View Abstract" from the dropdown next to your submission
- Disable pop-up blockers to view the proof
- Check disclosure responses at the bottom of the proof
Pre-Approval Required
Session coordinators seeking funding for Annual Meeting activities must follow pre-approval procedures per the SGIM Policy on External Funding.
Review Process
- All commercial funding requests must be reviewed and approved by the Annual Meeting Program Committee
- Letters of agreement required between SGIM and commercial funders
- SGIM retains a portion of raised funds for administrative overhead
Contact SGIM staff to ensure compliance with policy guidelines.
Scheduling
- Program Committee determines all presentation scheduling
- Be prepared to present in your assigned time slot
- Note potential conflicts during submission
- Schedule change requests: email annualmeeting@sgim.org by March 3, 2026 (requests don't guarantee accommodation)
Author/Presenter Changes
- Changes accepted until March 3, 2026
- New authors must have ScholarOne account and completed disclosure
- Contact annualmeeting@sgim.org with Control ID and new author details
Journal Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM) electronic supplement. SGIM reserves the right to exclude inappropriate abstracts.
Press Coverage
Oral presentations and poster sessions are open to press coverage.
