Grounding in Purpose and Care, Flourishing in Leadership
Leadership in health care can be personal. We cannot lead teams effectively unless we are deeply grounded in our purpose and consciously attuned to the structures that define how we work. In a landscape where institutions evolve, pressures intensify, and uncertainty is common, physician leaders thrive not by doing more, but by leading with clarity, compassion, and trust.
This year, we will explore how to…
- Clarify the values and virtues that shape your leadership identity
- Navigate the purposes of and structures that influence everyday decisions
- Cultivate a culture that supports and elevates academic promotion
- Recognize service lines and their impact on team dynamics
At the 2026 ACLGIM Hess Institute, we will explore the essential foundations of effective leadership to navigate complexity with greater confidence and intentionally shape environments where both leaders and teams can flourish.
The Institute is designed as a resource for anyone in or pursuing a leadership role, including Division Chiefs, Hospital Medicine Directors, Associate Chiefs, Section Heads, Operations Administrators and other leaders in
divisions of GIM and Hospital Medicine. Please consider sponsoring a colleague/s to join you.
