Innovations in Medical Education
Innovations in Medical Education (IME) submissions showcase innovative scholarly activities in medical education that are currently in progress or have been completed. The hallmark of an innovation is that the idea is new and meets an important need in medical education. We expect submissions that highlight our core values as internists and drive progress in medical education. Projects for submission could include, but are not limited to, the development, implementation, or evaluation of innovative courses, curricula, assessments, simulations, virtual patients, resources, web-based tools, or interdisciplinary collaborations. Additionally, we welcome submissions relating to the meeting theme for SGIM25: From Ideas to Action: Catalyzing Change in Academic General Internal Medicine.
Unlike scientific abstracts, IME submissions are not required to have complete evaluation data, but they should include a discussion of proposed qualitative or quantitative metrics. Submissions with evaluation data—whether qualitative or quantitative—may receive higher ratings. Submissions should provide enough information about the intervention for session attendees to assess the feasibility of implementing the innovation at their institution. IME sessions are designed to foster collaboration and creative thinking among meeting attendees.
