Innovations in Medical Education
Innovations in Medical Education (IME) submissions showcase innovative interventions in medical education that are currently in progress or that have been completed. The hallmark of an innovation is that the idea is new and meets an important need in medical education. We expect to see submissions that highlight our core values as internists and drive progress in medical education. Examples of projects for submission include the development, implementation, or evaluation of innovative courses, curricula, assessments, simulations, virtual patient interactions, resources, web-based tools, or interdisciplinary collaborations. Additionally, we welcome submissions relating to the meeting theme for SGIM26: Individual Voices, Collective Impact: Advocating Excellence in Academic Medicine.
Unlike Scientific Abstracts, IME submissions are not required to have complete evaluation data but should include a discussion of proposed qualitative or quantitative metrics. However, submissions with evaluation data, whether qualitative or quantitative, are likely to receive higher ratings. Submissions should include enough information about the intervention for session attendees to evaluate feasibility of the innovation at their own institutions. IME sessions are designed to stimulate collaboration and creative thinking among meeting attendees.
