Advocacy at SGIM26: Protecting and Expanding Health Care Access for All
At SGIM26, our advocacy efforts will unite under the theme of Access. Our collective presence in the Washington, D.C. area is a timely opportunity to give voice to our communities and institutions.
Policies shift frequently, but the affordability of healthcare is an ongoing concern:
- ACA premium subsidies are being dismantled
- Suggested alternatives such as high-deductible plans risk increasing delayed/foregone care
- Rural, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ populations continue to experience policy-driven decreases in access to healthcare
Many of you feel these pressures on a daily basis as you strive to provide the highest quality care for all people. We need you, SGIM members, to make your presence and persistence known in DC, as you communicate with legislators from your local perspective.
We invite you to participate in SGIM26 advocacy activities, including dedicated advocacy sessions during the meeting, opportunities for collaboration with fellow members, and “DIY Advocacy Activities” with resources provided to support your outreach to members of Congress. All activities are entry-level, scripted, and suitable for beginners to advocacy.
